I’m here to help you make sense of that picture—to see the connections between things that may seem unconnected, whether it’s the link between your ankle pain and your neck pain, or how your movement difficulties relate to your mental blocks, your daily habits, your old wounds (mental or physical), and your relationships with others and the world around you.
In July of 2017 I had a chance to connect with Ray Sylvester. I had heard of Feldenkrais in some of my studies, but I didn’t realize how amazing and powerful a tool it could be in my post-operative rehab efforts. Ray is a very down to earth person and this is what initially drew me to checking out what he had to offer. Coming from a background of feeling like I had to add hundreds of pounds on a bar to get an “effective” workout or to show that I was doing an exercise right was totally redefined for the better after being exposed to Feldenkrais. It involves very mindful, deliberate, articulation and movement of the body that connects your mind to your muscle, which is so important to creating quality, healthy, functional movement patterns. I would really recommend trying it out to anyone. After working with many professionals in the health and fitness industry I can say hands down that Ray is one of the best. Intuitive Movement Coaching—The Scoop
I offer in-person and online movement coaching, as well as group classes, based fundamentally on the Feldenkrais Method.
In every setting, my aim is to meet you where you are: to understand what drives, inspires, and concerns you—what brings you to life, and what’s getting in the way—and then to explore, together, what you want out of your life, both in movement and beyond.
From there, we’ll work together to expand the possibilities available to you.
Working with me in person, this process of meeting, exploring, and expanding is centered around Feldenkrais Functional Integration.
Functional Integration is a form of hands-on movement education that can shine a light on habitual patterns of movement. It will also present possibilities for new movement patterns that may serve you better, potentially increasing flexibility and coordination, reducing pain, and helping you recover more quickly from injury.
My in-person coaching is laser-focused on where you are and where you want to go, in movement and in life.
An initial in-person intuitive movement coaching session costs $120, and lasts about 75 minutes. Ongoing sessions after the initial consultation run about 50 minutes, and cost $85. Sessions take place at my studio in Northampton, MA.
Online coaching sessions involve a combination of conversation and mini movement lessons based on principles of Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement and other pieces of my toolkit.
During an online intuitive movement session, we’ll meet over a platform such as Skype or Zoom. I’ll help you explore your concerns and share some ideas with you that will help you see your movement habits in a new light. I’ll then give you new movement options and perspective shifts to incorporate into your everyday life, sport, or movement practice.
I’ll also provide a recording of each session afterward, as a resource you can use to revisit the movements and ideas we explore together.
As with in-person coaching, you won’t find a one-size-fits-all approach here.
Each online session costs $75, and lasts about 50 minutes.
Small-group Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement classes provide an accessible opportunity to experience the profound benefits of the Feldenkrais Method. They are held most Saturday mornings at my home studio in Northampton, MA.
