Online Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement Classes with Ray Sylvester, GCFP
[NOTE: All classes are currently paused, but online classes may be returning soon! Join my email list to get updates.]
The shift is waiting. Are you ready to embrace it?
Ready to embrace more ease in movement? To feel lighter, taller, more relaxed? To create a more solid connection with the ground in standing and walking? To find alternatives to those “same old” patterns—the ones that are causing you pain and holding you back?
To reconnect your body with your brain—and learn something new about yourself in the process?
Online Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® (ATM) classes will help you gently recenter, find ground, and create a richer connection to yourself and your surroundings.
Your first class is free, then it’s $15 per class. All classes are online via Zoom until further notice. To get access to recordings of all the lessons, whether or not you join a class, join my email list at the bottom of the page.

Step 4. Get ready for class!
Online classes take place via Zoom, a videoconferencing tool. Once you register for a class, you’ll receive an email with a link to join the Zoom meeting for the class.
At the time of the class, click the Zoom URL to join the meeting. You may be prompted to download a small file containing the Zoom app the first time you join a meeting. You’re welcome to join the meeting a few minutes early to settle in and get your bearings.
What you’ll need:
- a computer/phone with internet access
- a quiet spot where you can lie or sit comfortably. I recommend a carpeted floor, or at least having a yoga mat or blankets underneath you.
- towels, pillows, and/or pads to use for support under the head and other body parts as needed for comfort during the lesson
- a chair with a flat, firm seat for some lessons
Note: Classes will be recorded (audio only, and just the instructional portion).

What to Expect
In an ATM class, I’ll guide you verbally through a series of gentle movements, usually based on a specific theme. As you move slowly and with careful attention, you’ll have a chance to notice what’s easy for you and to do less than you think you can. In this way, you’ll gently engage your nervous system and create conditions for learning and improving.
I’ll invite you to move in ways that are easy, comfortable, and safe, where your breathing is unimpeded, your effort minimal, and your curiosity engaged.
I’ll also ask you to tune in to various parts of your “self image”—your picture of your body in movement and in space—and notice how different parts of you are participating in a given movement. Opportunities to rest will be amply offered and strongly encouraged whenever you feel the need.
Lessons are usually done lying on the floor to counteract the effects of gravity, though sometimes in sitting or standing.
